That depends on the service. The wardrobe consultation, Wardrobe Cleaning and the Styling Date can be booked from 2 hours; 3 to 4 hours is typical. Walk-in closets take correspondingly longer. For a personal shopping tour, please plan at least 5 hours. The first time, it often ends up being six to eight.

Q: Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?

No, and please don't tidy up your closet beforehand. I want to see what it really looks like, because that is exactly where the information is. For the shopping tour, bring comfortable shoes and some time. Everything else we discuss in the initial call.

What does a fashion consultant do?

Fashion consulting is personal guidance for your whole wardrobe: together we look at what you own, sort out what no longer works for you, and add exactly the pieces that are missing. The result is a wardrobe in which every piece has a job, and where you no longer spend twenty minutes every morning staring at open closet doors.

I have been doing this in Berlin since 6 January 2013. In that time I have seen hundreds of wardrobes, and I have learned that very few people own too few clothes. Most own too much of the wrong thing and too little of what holds everything together. That is exactly where we start.

Trends play a part, but they don't set the tone. I am happy to tell you what people are wearing right now and what has had its day. What matters in the end is what fits your life, your body and your budget. A color can be exactly right and the dress still a miss, and the other way round, too – more on this on the page about color analysis in Berlin. What you wear afterwards is your decision. You simply make it with a wardrobe that makes the decision easy.

Who is fashion advice for?

Fashion advice pays off whenever something in your life changes, or when your closet is full and still nothing works. My clients rarely come to me because they are interested in fashion. They come because they want a specific problem solved.

The most frequent bookings come from working women going back to their jobs after a break for their children. Often it is not only their figure that has changed; they are also in a different place in life, and that is allowed to show in their wardrobe. The second most common reason is weight loss: if you have achieved it, you want to see it. Then there is styling for a particular occasion: weddings, graduation balls, photo shoots.

Fashion consulting or style consulting: what is the difference?

Fashion consulting is more about fashion in the literal sense: what people are wearing right now, what has had its day, and which of it actually suits you. Style consulting asks the opposite question: what is your own style, regardless of the season? In practice, the two flow into each other. I rarely keep them strictly apart.

One example I find in almost every closet: the trench coat inherited from your mother, unworn for years. Because vintage is back in fashion, it stays. That is the fashion part. Whether it suits you and goes with everything else we keep is the style part. Both are decided in the same hour, in front of the same closet.

Wardrobe Cleaning

You know it. You have far too much 😊 And somehow you just can't stand the sight of it anymore.

Everything thrown together at random. The collected works of 20 years of living and shopping. It's time for clarity. We declutter. We keep only what is really good and fits into the new wardrobe. That can be tough at times, but in the end it feels incredibly good.

Together we put together a "must-have" list and a "wish" list of the things we will look for, and find, on the shopping tour. That way, step by step, we reach the state of the "perfect wardrobe"!

Yes, the closet is well stocked (sounds nicer than full ;-). And in your opinion, what's hanging in it is good, too... it's just that somehow the exact pieces you need to turn it into a real outfit are always missing!

That might be fundamental basics like good white crew-neck T-shirts, a great blazer that lifts everything, or a high-quality wool coat that simply always looks good.

We'll see once we're there, and then we write our shopping list. It may not be very long, since it's only about filling the gaps!

Styling Date

The closet is well stocked! And yes, there are great things in it! But... how? What? With what?

Oh my goodness, you could surely create so many great outfits... it's just that the ideas and the imagination are somehow missing.

What do we do? We go through everything together. After all, I need to know what we're working with :-)

And then off we go: we build OUTFITS! From head to toe, with shoes and baseball caps, hats & beanies, jewelry & scarves. You can try everything on, or we lay it out on a neutral background.

Of course, everything gets photographed, and then you have a folder on your desktop called "Styling Ideas". The huge advantage: these aren't random Pinterest or Instagram photos. They are YOUR photos with YOUR clothes.

It's seriously fun, and suddenly you see your own closet with completely different eyes!

Whether you live in Berlin and we have already met for a wardrobe consultation, you're planning a girls' weekend in Berlin, or you're here on business, anything is possible!

We go shopping! Shopping isn't an art. Choosing the right things is the art!

Beforehand, we define what we want and where your wardrobe journey should take you! If you're from out of town, we talk on the phone and send photos back and forth. If you live in or around Berlin, we will most likely have met in person :-)

For a sensible, unhurried consultation, plan 5 hours. The first time, it often takes six, seven or even eight. Good things take time. We try on a lot. Sometimes you put on five great black do-it-all trousers and the first pair turns out to be the best after all. I have been doing personal shopping tours since 6 January 2013, and hundreds of consultations later I can say with certainty: a new wardrobe in two hours is impossible. Sorry.

The shopping tour takes us to Berlin stores that suit your budget and your style. Anything that isn't in stock in your size, we order online right there in the store. If you don't live in Berlin, we sort everything out beforehand by phone and with photos.
